Michel St-Pere is a Canadian guitarist, songwriter, and producer best known as the founder and creative force behind the progressive rock band Mystery.
Renowned for his melodic sensibility, cinematic arrangements, and emotionally expressive guitar work, St-Pere has built a respected international career within the modern progressive rock movement.

Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, St-Pere developed an early passion for classic and progressive rock, drawing inspiration from legendary acts such as Genesis, Rush, and Journey. These influences would later shape his signature style—blending rich atmospheres, soaring guitar leads, and intricate compositions with strong melodic hooks.

In 1986, St-Pere founded Mystery, initially as a studio project before evolving into a full touring band. Under his leadership, the group gained international recognition for albums such as Beneath the Veil of Winter’s Face, One Among the Living, The World Is a Game, and Lies and Butterflies. Mystery’s music is characterized by dynamic arrangements, layered keyboards, and powerful vocal performances, all anchored by St-Pere’s distinctive guitar tone and compositional vision.

Beyond his work as a performer with MYSTERY and HUIS, Michel St-Pere is also a key figure behind the scenes.
